As part of our People pillar, this year we continued one of our long-standing initiatives that has been carried out many times throughout NKAR’s history.
This time, we brought a group of rural schoolchildren to Colombo for a day trip, an experience designed to open new horizons.
For the students of Hallmillara Maha Vidyalaya in the rural village of Lunugamwehera, Colombo had only existed in textbooks, photographs, and stories. This week, those pages came to life.
Early in the morning, 28 students and their teacher began their 200 km journey to Sri Lanka’s capital, ready to explore a world they had only imagined.
The NKAR team aimed to create more than just a trip, it was an experience meant to inspire curiosity, confidence, and possibility.
At NKAR, we believe that initiatives like this help shape the childhood of these young minds. The leaders of tomorrow are sitting in today’s classrooms, and even small opportunities like this can help broaden their vision of the world.
