NKAR FIELD STAFF TRAINING 2026

For the past 46 years, NKAR has continuously stood out within the tourism industry through its immense contribution towards developing Sri Lanka tourism and maintaining high service standards. The NKAR Field Staff Training is one of the key annual programs in the company’s event and training calendar.

This year, the program was conducted on a grand scale over two days with close to 150 participants, including National Tourist Guides, Chauffeur Guides, Drivers, and Support Staff.

The main purpose of the training was to enhance industry knowledge, improve soft skills, prepare the field staff for the upcoming season based on learnings and observations from the previous season, strengthen team spirit, and further build the connection between the field team and office team.

The sessions were conducted by several members of the NKAR leadership and management team including Chairman & Managing Director Mr. Nilmin Nanayakkara, Chief Operating Officer, Roshen Steelman, Head of Marketing Brian Wimalasinghe, Sustainability Consultant Ms. Rapti Dirckze, Procurement Manager Eranga Sanjeewa, and Tour Leader Manager Roshan Fernando.

In addition, several external resource persons conducted valuable sessions covering vehicle maintenance, road safety, traffic laws, team building, and the latest technological developments within the tourism industry. Mr. Sandun Fernando (Director / Performance Strategist – Blue Mango Partners) conducted the team-building session, while Mr. Aruna Basnayake from DMC Technology Solutions conducted a session on technology adaptation and new developments shaping Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.

The insightful and informative two-day program was also filled with entertainment and concluded with a cocktail session at the end of Day Two to celebrate the successful completion of the training program.

At the conclusion of the event, Chairman & Managing Director Mr. Nilmin Nanayakkara emphasized that this investment is not only for NKAR, but for the entire tourism industry, as field staff are the true brand ambassadors of Sri Lanka tourism who work closely with foreign travelers visiting the country
